1. Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) and locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement\PrefetchParameters
2.On the EnablePrefetcher value, change the setting from 3 to 5 (decimal).
3. Close the registry editor and restart your computer.

BAD IDEA
Microsoft documents 4 values for EnablePrefetcher, 0,1,2,3. The default and optimum value is 3. Any other value will impair either boot or application launch times or both.
This is a well known myth, yet it continues to be found on uninformed web sites.
